Treatment System for Healthy Sustainable Farming

Due to flies’ infestation in Batu Gajah region, which was mainly caused by the broilers’ operation within the area, several chicken farms were heavily affected and their operation license were temporarily suspended. Yayasan was invited to sit in a special task force meeting of Perak State which was hosted at Pejabat Daerah dan Tanah Kinta Batu Gajah on 20th October 2020. During the meeting, the flies issue was brought up, and Yayasan Science to Action presented our solution. We will still utilise EM solution within our treatment, as it has proven to benefit the health of birds as well as control the hygienic condition of the coops well.

Yayasan Science to Action takes up initiative to work with one of the affected farms, NTKK Broiler Farming Sdn. Bhd. There are farm A and farm B of NTKK. Farm A is an open house farm which can host 80000 birds at one time. Farm B is a close house which can host around 200000 birds at one time.

A survey was conducted in November and December 2020 on the residence surrounding Kinta Valley and Batu 6 in Batu Gajah, Perak. Looking at the respondence, a few farms will continue to be opened up for operation.

In November Reduced flies problem to 86%
In December Reduced flies problem to 100%

Investigation in December until recently in open house and closed house system of one of the farms assisted by Yayasan S2A showed good flies and larvae control.
